A new government report shows that nearly half of Americans with high blood pressure are not properly controlling their condition, increasing their risk of stroke, heart attack, and heart disease.
The overall rate of high blood pressure in the United States has remained constant, hovering between 28 percent and 29 percent, the new report found.
Two in three people over the age of 60 have high blood pressure, and one in three people between the ages of 40 and 59 have the condition.
According to the 'Great Indian BP' survey conducted by Cardiological Society of India, 33 percent of the Indian population is suffering from Hypertension.But 2/3 of them are not even aware of the disorder. Dr. Ashok Seth (Chairman, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute,Gurgaon) says: "It's called the silent killer for a reason. You do not see it coming. Today, it is the leading cause of stroke, heart failure, and heart attack". He also points out the lifestyle factors like high intake of salt, dependency on junk food, alcohol consumption, smoking, lack of exercise, stress and poor sleeping habits also increased the chance for this condition.We should avoid these lifestyle conditions first before taking any medicines.
Natural Remedies to reduce Blood Pressure
- Make a curry of moringa leaves and garlic and have it.It is good for BP.
- Drinking 60ml. of plantain stem juice(take the juice of small banana) thrice a day will reduce your BP.
